Owensboro International BBQ Festival

Every second weekend in May, Owensboro springs to life with the wonderful smells and sounds of the International Bar-B-Q Festival. Smoke from hickory-stoked fires blends with the aromas of sizzling chicken, bubbling burgoo and roasting mutton to complete the festival atmosphere. (Its actually more of fund-raising competition between local Catholic churches than anything else. I didn't see anything 'international' during my visit. Truth be told, the best BBQ was from a booth called Miss Piggy's/Sasssy D's BBQ. -F.A.)

Some arts & crafts booths, carnival rides, along with a large car show and the mighty Ohio river to the north, make this a fun event.
